Check Your Control Panel in WordPress Regularly
I know all WordPress users expect their installations to run both smoothly and automatically – and normally it does. You should, however, be mindful that some plugins will require your attention from time to time to remain updated.
Don’t worry. It is quickly fixed, but the problem is that you will run into problems if you don’t visit your control panel in WordPress at regular intervals.
First of all, you want to check the spam queue, because Akismet is good at identifying spam comments, but you still have to click the button to delete the spam it has found. Similarly, you may have received an e-mail about a comment that needed your moderation since a reader hadn’t posted before, and you obviously also want to thank the person writing the comment – and maybe even make some supplementary comments to what is being said.
In other words, WordPress has some very useful features that keep the core updated, but running a blog still requires your regular attention.
Regular readers will remember that I run blogs BOTH on my family domain using WordPress and on Blogger. When people ask me which I prefer, I usually explain that there is one important question you need to ask yourself before you begin.
If the subject IS important to you, I would recommend running the blog on your own domain using WordPress any day. You get some fine-tuning options which will benefit you quite a lot in terms of SEO, Search Engine Optimization, which is not as easily done with Blogger.
What are your thoughts, dear readers?
Have a nice day. 🙂
