Did You Listen to My Advice on January 1st?
Did you listen to my advice on January 1st 2012 in the article “2012 – Begin Your Journey Towards Online Success“?
One thing I forgot to focus upon, which I will do in this article was the need for optimizing for mobile browsers. If you don’t have your own smartphone, iPad or other way of seeing your website or blog in a mobile browser, you can either buy one rather cheap or borrow one from friends or family.
The need to optimize for mobile content is more important than ever before. People like to read blogs, watch videos or check material while they’re going by train or bus to their destinations, and more recently browsing from airplanes is now also available on major airflights. So the market IS growing, and you need to focus on this.
You need not necessarily buy expensive themes for your WordPress blog, but being mindful that your content must be readable on both desktop and mobile browsers WILL be a determining factor in assuring success in the years ahead.
But back to the idea of focusing your business. Have you paid attention to optimizing for your audience? Have you been succesful in planning what you present to your readers? Have you given them unique content they couldn’t find anywhere else?
Personally, I must say this has been a year of focusing my attention towards niche sites. Games on Facebook, politics (especially this year with Obama winning his reelection as President) and research for the blog on Armstrongism. In some areas I have written more than in others. But my primary focus has been on delivering unique content – and in many ways I think I have been somewhat succesful.
But I can also identify that there have been blogs which need far MORE attention in 2013. This is why I write this article: to give you the same opportunity to be honest with yourself on whether you have given enough focus in bringing your plans to life.
Good luck – both for the rest of 2012, but also in the years ahead. 🙂
