It’s How You Respond…

When I saw this quote I was motivated to write a few words to remind all readers that it is HOW WE RESPOND that defines how things go for us — true both on an individual and a collective level. See this quote:

“In the final analysis, the questions of why bad things happen to good people transmutes itself into some very different questions, no longer asking why something happened, but asking how we will respond, what we intend to do now that it happened.”
Harold S. Kushner
Rabbi, Author of When Bad Things Happen To Good People

On a philosophical level it’s often asked: “Why does God allow suffering when He is supposed to be all-loving?” Such questions reveal a short-sighted focus, because ALL winners KNOW that every trial brings a possibility to do what is either GOOD or BAD. We wouldn’t have to make any decisions or choices if everything was “rosy red, sitting on a sky playing the harp”, would we?

When we give up, we lose sight of the wonderful truth that we are free moral agents. You and I have the biggest luxury available to us: we can decide what we want to spend our time on, without any preconceived notions of what we should do. Some people have chosen to submit themselves to rules that either command them to pray at specific times or believe a certain way about things.

For those who chose to do things THEIR way a door is open to see everything in the same perspective as the above quoted author. When you and I begin to open our minds towards the fact that we each control our potential success or potential failure we become far more creative and effective in our communication with the people around us.

Remember: winners take action. Carpe diem. 🙂
