As I wrote in April in the article entitled “Would Never Buy a Clone” which you can find here: http://www.blunck.dk/loves-apple-mac/?p=56, I would never settle for a clone.
When you look at the PsyStar website you will find that they offer both MacOS and Ubuntu Linux. My honest appraisal of Ubuntu is that I never got it to work on ANY of my laptops, whereas both Mandrake (later Mandriva), Fedora Red Hat and Debian have worked very well. Does that disqualify Ubuntu? In no way. It just doesn’t interest me to spend hours trying to make a workaround when I could use Mandriva, set it up in a quarter of an hour, and then everything worked.
When it comes to PsyStar my honest opinion is that the clone market will never be any serious competitor, and for those who like Apple products clones is – again – the question of getting a Lada when you’re looking for a Rover or a Mercedes.
So regardless of any lawsuits, PsyStar will never be any competition for those of us who love ORIGINAL Apple products.
